Requirements
WrangleBot runs on all Apple M1 and most Apple with Intel chips
CPU
Transfers are not typically CPU-intensive. Hashing runs parallel to the transfer and does not require significant CPU utilization. Some codecs such as DNxHD may require more CPU resources than others like AVCHD or ProRes that will leverage the GPU of your Mac. Thumbnail encoding is very CPU-intensive as it necessitates the decoding of the entire video through the CPU and drawing of many pictures.
GPU
WrangleBot only uses graphics cards during transcoding for specific codecs like ProRes or AVCHD. If you have no dedicated graphics card installed, WrangleBot will use the CPU instead. The benefits of adding an eGPU have not been tested to date.
RAM
WranglerBot hosts an in-memory database that scales linearly with the number of files and metadata in your library; thus, it needs to be taken into account when selecting a RAM size. Given that the application requires a web browser to render the dashboard, please also take into consideration your browser's RAM requirements if you are running both the engine and the Ui on the same host device. We recommend using at least 8GB of RAM for host devices.
Which OS versions does WrangleBot currently support?
WrangleBot currently supports all MacOS operating systems from Catalina and up. It has been tested and runs smoothly on Ventura 13.1.
Is WrangleBot compatible with Apple Silicon (arm64)?
Yes, there are two builds for WrangleBot. Please select the appropriate build (in this case, arm64) for your Apple Silicon device.
