In this tab you can create new Copy Tasks to import and copy media assets.
To ensure proper usage of the feature, it is important to select the correct MetaLibrary in the designated tab. To do so, navigate to the top left corner of the screen and click on the drop-down menu labeled "Select Library". This will display a list of available libraries to choose from. If your preferred library is not listed, simply click on it to select it from the options displayed.
In the event that you cannot see your desired MetaLibrary listed, it may be due to issues with the root folder. To resolve this, ensure that the root folder is accessible and that the external volume is correctly connected.
When it comes to ingesting media, there are three main steps to follow. These steps include selecting the source where the media will be coming from, selecting destinations where the media will be stored, and choosing offload settings to ensure proper data transfer. Let’s take a closer look at each of these steps to ensure that you understand them.
Select Source: The first step in the ingestion process is to select the source from which the media will be coming from. This could be a camera, an SD card, an external hard drive, or any other device that contains the media files you want to move to a new location. When selecting the source, it's essential to ensure that the device is properly connected to the device that is hosting WrangleBot.
Select Destinations: The second step is to select the destinations where the media files will be stored. This could be an external hard drive, a network attached storage (NAS) solution, cloud storage, or any other storage device that you prefer. When selecting the destination, it's essential to ensure that there's enough space on the device, the device is writable, and it's correctly connected.
Choose Offload Settings: The final step is to choose offload settings to ensure proper data transfer. This means selecting the criteria for the media files you want to ingest like Label, preserving folder structures, naming convention, and more.
WrangleBot is a powerful tool for managing your media files. With its intuitive interface, you can easily select sources such as connected volumes or specific folders to index the media footage. This indexing process is essential to allow WrangleBot to categorize and organize your media files effectively.
To select a connected volume as a source, simply click on the "Volume" tab and let WrangleBot start indexing your drive. Once completed, the source will change to your selected volume.
Alternatively, if you want to link to an existing collection of media footage or select a specific folder, choose the "Folders" tab. Start by entering the path you want to select, and WrangleBot will automatically suggest folders that it can detect. You can use either the arrow keys and Enter or your mouse to select completions. Once you're done, click on "Add Source," and the folder will be indexed.
In addition to indexing connected volumes and specific folders, you can also use WrangleBot to scan for unindexed files in the MetaLibraries sub-folders marked as "watch." This process automatically adds a new task if files are found, ensuring that all your media files are consistently and accurately categorized.
If there are particular types of files that you don't want to offload, you can easily deselect them by ticking the appropriate boxes before selecting a volume or folder. This fine-grained control over your media important since it allows you to focus on only the files that are relevant to your project or workflow.
When using WrangleBot to ingest your media, you have the option to select destinations where your files will be copied to. Leaving the destinations section empty will only ingest your media, but not copy them to any location.
To select a destination, you can choose from two options: Volumes and Folders.
Volumes refer to the root path of the storage device you have connected to your computer. When selecting a Volume, WrangleBot will add the root path of the volume to the destination array.
If you want to copy your files to a specific folder that is not a Volume, you can add custom paths by entering the path you want to offload to in the Folders section. WrangleBot can assist you in auto-completing the path to make it easier.
Selecting destinations is important if you want to ensure that your media is backed up and easily accessible. It also helps you organize your files in a way that makes it easier to find them later on.
Leaving the destinations empty will ingest your media, but not copy them to any location. If you want to also copy the media to a new location, you must select destinations.

You can easily manage your media by using pre-built folders to organize them. To select a folder as a destination, simply click on the arrow button and choose the desired folder. You can also access the context menu of each folder by clicking on the three dots icon. From there, you have the option to create a new sub folder by selecting the new folder button, or you can open the file browser on the host machine by clicking on the folder icon with an arrow.
Please note that once a folder contains files, it cannot be renamed. However, you can still unlink the folder by clicking on the trashcan icon. If you do need to rename a folder that already contains files, it is recommended to create a new folder with the correct name and move the files into it.
By utilizing folders to manage your media, you can easily stay organized and keep track of your files in an efficient manner.
Settings in WrangleBot are crucial to ensuring that the Task operates the way you intend.
The Label is a setting that is solely used for your reference, making it easier to locate and identify files once they have been processed. It is also used as the name of the sub folder that will be created if the "Create Sub Folder" setting is checked.
This setting ensures that the relative file path is rebuilt at the destination. If this setting is left unchecked, WrangleBot will dump all files directly to the destination folder, without considering their original folder structure. However, it's important to note that this setting is automatically deactivated if files are detected that share filenames, as those files would overwrite each other.
If checked, this setting will create a sub folder at the selected destination and copy all content to that folder. The sub folder will be named the same as the Label. This setting is useful if you want to ensure that the processed files are kept in a separate folder, rather than being mixed in with other files in the destination folder.
This setting determines whether the task will be executed immediately after creation or if it will remain in the task list without being executed. If you want the task to be executed right away, leave this setting checked. Otherwise, uncheck it.
Click "Add Task" or "Add Task & Run" depending on your settings. Switch to the Task tab to continue.
